CDL Future Value 2.0: Creating Greater Value, Today and Tomorrow
Sustainability Mission
Harnessing our capitals - Financial, Organizational, Manufactured, Natural, Social and Relationship, and Human – to crate enhanced value for stakeholders, now and in the future.
Sustainability Journey
Since 1995, we have built on our ethos of "Conserving as we Construct" to fulfil our role as a builder of living spaces, lives and communities. Over the years, we have built a strong track record as Singapore’s trusted property pioneer and one of the most sustainable companies in the world. As we future proof our organisation to meet tomorrow’s challenges, we remain committed to our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals and policies to mitigate risks, enhance resource efficiency, drive productivity and innovation, and ultimately create enduring value.
With an integrated approach, we continue to harness our capitals to realise our sustainability-centric vision. We believe that a sustainable business is only possible with a healthy planet as well as a prosperous and inclusive society.
A testament to our unwavering commitment to long term value creation, CDL remains as the first Singapore Corporation to be listed on four of the world’s leading sustainability benchmarks – FTSE4Good Index Series (since 2002), MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes (since 2009), Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World (since 2010), and Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (since 2011).
CDL Future Value 2030
As CDL continues to pursue greater excellence, we introduced CDL Future Value 2030 as our blueprint for the future. With increased threats of climate change and rapid urbanisation, this plan will guide us to continue our best practices and future ready our business as we move towards 2030.
In the ever-changing business and natural environment, CDL Future Value 2030 will serve as a blueprint for sustained growth and value creation for our business, stakeholders, community and the environment. Most importantly, it sets clear direction and robust ESG goals and targets to guide us towards 2030 – an important year under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Paris Agreement on climate change. The aim is to maintain CDL’s position as the most sustainable real estate management and development company in the world*.
As part of our low carbon strategy, we voluntarily validated our carbon emissions intensity reduction target under the Science Based Targets initiative, a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature. Accordingly, we have increased our carbon emissions reduction target in the CDL Future Value 2030 sustainability blueprint, from 38% to 59% (from baseline year of 2007) and aim to reduce embodied carbon in building materials by 24% compared to their conventional equivalents. As a responsible business, CDL’s initiative towards low-carbon operations aims to support Singapore’s national commitment to the Paris Agreement, Climate Action Plan and the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint. It is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that came into force from January 2016.
